2 Day Workshop Example
2 day stonecarving workshop on the theme of hands.

- looking at our own hands/photos/drawings
- hands drawn and sculpted by other artists
- making models of hands using clay(explanation how carving works in the opposite way to modeling)
- short intro to carving tools
- "hands on" carving on trial piece
- explanation of the different possibilities how we can show hands in carving (positive/negative)
- stonecarving the wall piece or individual pieces
- preparation of the surface/drawing outlines/carving outlines

- carving in a negative shape, creating an imprint
- carving in positive shape,"building the shape" of a hand
- to start with the work will be "rough"
- near the end of the day students will use polishing tools and sand paper to complete there work.
- During the final session the whole group will look at each others work and give feedback.
- The completed work can than be assembled on appropriate wall space.
