Tropism

Tropism

This is a example of work that I have recently experimented with, using the weight of a stone (if small) and added wet varnished cloth.

After the drying and the structure being hung upside down gives the vision of growth (Tropism), gravity turned on it’s head.

Symposium in Germany coming up

Symposium in Germany coming up

Not long now before I am off to Germany to take part in the biannual Symposium.I am frantic with preparing for this time and I will work in my current style of contradiction/enhancement of materials, hoping to create something with stone, this time a carving and include cloth in some way as well.

The place has a very beautiful park, I am positive that my piece will relate in some way with the surroundings.Having been there before I feel much more in the know of what is expected of me over there and that is a good thing.Last time I hardly prepared a thing this time round I am in some knowledge of the place and people and inspiration comes naturally. My preparations and thoughts I am tuning in german,as it helps me to get into the mood of being over there again

Growing upside down

Growing upside down

During the last months my work has turned towards other materials than stone. In conjunction with stone, cloth can express my interest in playing with the weight of stone by not just hanging it.Sculptures are created by hanging the stone and applying material, which then follows gravity. After completion of the work I turn the work by 180 degrees and a floating or growing up visual appears.
