This stone carving business is again and again taking me by surprise, in how much it requires of me to slow down and to be patient also counting in the size of the stone, a scale I am not yet familiar with. Talking of size…the weight is almost unmanageable…almost!! with a few rollers, sandbags as well as a huge leaver I succeed in moving the 200kg into a different position, luckily it did not drop off the workbench in the process, phew, never thought it could feel so satisfying moving a lump of rock. Of course what greets me on the other side is a unworked surface…now a new challenge starts, how to move the form within the three dimensional landscape, I know I want some “twisting, pulling, rising”, do I want it to happen within one form or in several forms. I don’t know…want to work it out but won’t get the chance for a few days, so here I unplug myself again, trying to focus on the time that I will have next week to carve rather then thinking of the days I haven’t got.
